Fatal crash takes the life of 84-year-old woman

Sometimes, crashes are severe and injure many. Lives may be lost as a result of a single person's poor judgment. Take, for example, a case out of Chicago involving police officers who were rushing to a crime scene. According to the story, two police vehicles, one marked and one unmarked, were traveling to a call at the 1200 block on North Laramie.

The two vehicles collided, hitting multiple other vehicles in the process. One of the vehicles hit contained an 84-year-old woman. She passed away from the collision.

The 84-year-old woman was a passenger in the vehicle, and she was traveling with her daughter when they were hit. The officers were recorded as they flew into the intersection, not even slowing down before the collision.

Now, at least one officer is out on administrative leave. What's worse is that it was later discovered that the suspect they were rushing to catch had already been taken into custody; there was no need to speed through the intersection.

Even the authorities need to abide by the laws. If they did not have their emergency lights on and did not attempt to slow when entering an intersection, then they were putting themselves and others at risk.

If you are involved in a collision or lose a loved one because of the mistakes that others have made, it's your right to do all you can to hold them responsible. Your attorney can help you fight for the compensation that you need so that you can cover medical bills, funeral costs and other financial losses.
